The goals of the design committee are to:

• Enhance buildings and storefront design
• Provide historic preservation education and seek to find new uses for traditional neighborhood commercial buildings
• Advocate for needed public improvements and public space management
• Institute a strategy for maintaining a clean, green, and safe commercial district
• Identify and promote streetscape improvements to improve the visual appearance of the district and increase access and walkability within the district and to businesses
• Promote proper management and use of public spaces in the business district
• Improve retail display and marketing
• Assist businesses with enhancing image and sales through creative and appropriate lighting, and merchandise and window displays to highlight buildings and retail offerings
