Mount Pleasant Main Street is happy to announce its partnership with the DC Green Team Program funded through a fiscal 2009 grant from the DC Government and ABRA.

The Green Team was pioneered by the former 14th and U Main Street Initiative and administered by the Columbia Heights/Shaw Family Support Collaborative. Green Team activities will focus on the commercial corridor of Mount Pleasant St. and Lamont Park. Program benefits include:

* Sustaining healthy neighborhoods by promoting street maintenance and beautification by removing litter from streets, sidewalks and parks, sidewalk surface cleaning, removing graffiti, and providing tree box landscaping and maintenance

* Strengthening individuals in the community by providing opportunities for our formerly homeless, unemployed, and underemployed populations through employment, training and learning life skills
