Mount Pleasant RHI HZA Program Completed
MPMS is happy to announce that the Responsible Hospitality Institute Program (RHI) HZA program started in Mount Pleasant in February 2009 is now complete.
The final report will be available for download and at the Mt. Pleasant Library in hard copy by the end of October to allow additional updates and contributions. A Spanish version will be available in the next few weeks. Next steps are to create a local Connections Core Team to prioritize report recommendations, implementation and administration.
The RHI program ran for 6 months and includes a Hospitality Zone Assessment (?HZA?) for the MPMS commercial corridor. The HZA is a structured process designed to help the neighborhood design and develop an action plan and timetable to address conflicts and improve the functioning and management of its hospitality zones and nighttime economy.
The program strives to address issues by gathering diverse perspectives and feedback from a broad set of stakeholders that includes residents, local organizations, business owners, suppliers, employees, and local government officials from various agencies. The final report of the RHI study with defined action items along with the RHI framework will serve as a launch pad for continued dialog and issue resolution.
HZA is a three-phase process:
- Community Engagement
- Round table Focus Groups (Hospitality, Security, Development & Community)
- Leadership Summit & Final Report
RHI program events and agenda to be posted on-line.
